the esoteric meaning, being able to hold onto something. dhyana? relates to to concentration, samadhi, focus, contemplation. also when one is holding something properly, there is no space to grab anything else. so there is a rejection included.
it would be interesting to do a 1000 reps per day thing. that would jack my forearms super quick. so in a sense grip training is like consecration aswell, like lets say the urge to do some action occurs, if I did one grip exercise instead it is like saying no, only this. or only consciously grab things and hold onto only what is important. so aside from grip training one can also grab books, or do programming etc. in another sense, the grip is like ones will to hold on, so it is a symbol of will, as the wand and sword both rely on grip.
