THE CHALLENGE
accomplish all major goals for this design doc according to rules outlined
WHY
to go through an entire dev cycle
to learn / skill dev
unknown reasons
a step towards OWRPGVR
will result in something fun to play
MAJOR GOALS
fun to play
made in 7* days with 1 day for planning (or whatever determined time)
a glorious sample of OWRPG (sales pitch)
THE PLAN ::: GENRE
+-so since the only fun game I have made was the platformer in GML, I seriously doubt at my capacity to make a fun roguelike in seven days in python. but simulaneously I feel like a roguelike is what I want to make eventually, as a conceptual foundation for the OPEN WORLD RPG VR game. as such if I am able to perhaps implement a small piece of that game into something playable then it would be a major stride towards that goal. For that reason it is very worthwhile. And for now ill go for that. ::: 7 DAY VERSION
+ whats the minimum fun-playable product?
+ even before fun, is the need for playable.
+ deadlines
+ keeping in mind the long-term iterations
|:. minimum playability requirements .:|
I NEED...
+ player
# player stats?
+ input responses
+ interactions
- pulling handles, opening doors,
+ movement, spells, attacks, skill checks?
+ piece of the world (room/map)
+ maybe small camp, with one npc
+ graveyard and crypt? or is that too difficult of an area?
+ one dungeon, one puzzle, one boss (an piece of the map, deserted)
+ can give out a code, which only I can decrypt if its true and unique, it counts as done in the actual game if they wish
+ things
+ monsters? npcs? items? objects?
+ plot
+ tying into larger game
+
::: MINIMUM? FUN REQUIREMENTS
+ why was JOSHGAME.gml fun?
- didnt want to die
- epic auto progression
- jumping, running, dashing, air jumping, air dashing
- see MAGICK
- huge character potential
- scary
- stealthy monsters but blind
- perhaps melee not recommended
- interactive
- progressive difficulty
- cool
- stealth checks for audio and visual
+ what could make GAME.py fun?
- difficult but rewarding
- so much to explore
- freedom / lack of freedom
- seductive whilst producing turmoil
- dark and full of loss
- but not random
- good plot
- scary
- imagine if a large distant eye creature spots you and then you feel threatened and as if naked! and then for one second you see yourself from the eyes perspective, with everything but the eye and player dimmed as if in the eyes mind
- progression

+ seven day version outline +
+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
ACHIEVABLE?
+ is the minimum 7 day playable outline achievable?
aesthetics?
- stats bar
- event messages window
- graphics or ascii?
- player
- map
prototype?
which goals do I need to plan for?
make an outline of the 7 days. (but first figure out what I want to make, and can make.)
other?
+-what about the dopeness of platform mechanics? I suppose its the timer that allows for that element.

::UNSORTED
this make me think of JOSHRPG.gml, where I was actually able to make a fun game..
that was the only game that I had gotten to a fun to play stage.
flying around blasting an arcane beam mmmhmm
