Bob Hatch - The Duck Pond
Someone once asked Freud what he took to be his favorite books. He responded with an opinion about important and influential books. Students frequently ask for a general reading list. What might an intelligent, educated person have read during the summer, or perhaps in the course of a life? Herewith are a few candidates for such a Summer Reading List.

This list began during my high school years--slightly over a century ago. Thanks to my teacher Orv Gilmore (with whom I have recently regained contact after some thirty years--another e-mail junkie) this list had its first start and continues to grow. With his help I hope we might continue to update this modest list (I still have Orv's two-page mimeographed sheets, one typed the other handwritten....). My list, alas, is in no particular order. And I like it that way. I have scribbled down titles at various times with different intentions. However disordered patterns can be seen. Browse and choose what you like. If you are aghast by missing candidates please e-me with your favorites. Alas, if you aren't aghast by what is missing you probably won't find much of interest here either.
